Max was born in the village of Steventon and was a long serving member of the Side until he moved to Cornwall in 1988; he was also a member of Mr Hemmings' Morris Men. He joined Carn Brae and continued to dance with us whenever he could. His Cornish tours were memorable.  He was an excellent singer and many of his songs are still sung by the Side.  He was responsible for reintroducing the Mummers Play back to the area after its rediscovery in Steveton.

Max, and his son Steve, currently dance with Blue Anchor Morris Men based in the Blue Anchor pub in Helston. They dance mainly stick dances with the odd handkerchief jig. Traditions are Adderbury, Litchfield, Headington, Upton, a few Border.
